Statement of Senator Max Baucus Regarding the Daschle Stimulus Plan

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on Jan. 24, 2003. It is reproduced in full below.

I like Senator Daschle's stimulus plan. There are a number of items in his plan that were also included in the plan I put out in December. More than anything else, a significant amount for state fiscal relief is essential to any stimulus plan. It does not do the American Taxpayer a bit of good to cut federal taxes if the states are forced to raise taxes or cut education funding. I think this is a great starting point and I look forward to sitting down with Chairman Grassley to develop a stimulus plan that will receive significant bi-partisan support.
