WASHINGTON - Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Committee on Finance, praised the committee’s approval today of the nominations of Charlotte Lane and Daniel Pearson to the International Trade Commission. The nominees now will be sent to the Senate floor for a vote on their confirmation.
“I look forward to Senate confirmation of the Bush administration’s nominees and hope for a vote soon," Grassley said. “Both of these candidates have done a good job going through the nomination process and will make valuable contributions as commissioners.
“Daniel Pearson’s outstanding background in agriculture and international trade make him an extremely well-qualified person to serve on the International Trade Commission," Grassley said.
Pearson has worked as a vice president and as a policy analyst in Cargill’s public affairs department since 1987, focusing primarily on international trade policy issues. He has also worked as an agriculture legislative assistant to then-U.S. Senator Rudy Boschwitz and has first-hand experience in farming, having farmed an 800-acre operation with his family.
Charlotte Lane has a long and distinguished record of public service, Grassley said. Her commitment is well-documented in her service to the people of West Virginia as a member of the House of Delegates, a public service commissioner, and most recently as chairman of the Public Service Commission. “I admire her record of public service and appreciate her enthusiasm to continue that work here in Washington," Grassley said. “I hope both of these nominees will move through the Senate quickly."
