Finance Committee to Examine Welfare Reform Successes

Event: Hearing, “Welfare Reform: Building on Success"

Date/time: Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at 10 a.m.

Location: 215 Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C.

Description: Many observers agree that welfare reform has been a success, but more needs to be done. Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Committee on Finance, will convene a hearing to hear testimony on what has worked so far with the 1996 law and identify areas that need to be improved. The hearing comes as the committee prepares legislation to re-authorize the welfare program.
