(Washington, D.C.) - Following is a joint statement by Senators Max Baucus (D-MT), John Breaux (D- LA),Blanche Lincoln (D- AR), and Olympia Snowe (R-ME), in response to action taken today by the House ofRepresentatives on the Child Tax Credit Bill.

“We will insist that any conference report on the child credit legislation comply with the Budget Act’srequirement that it not increase the deficit. The Senate has already passed, by a vote of 94-2, bipartisanlegislation to provide needed child tax credit relief. The White House has called on the House to pass theSenate bill.
