Grassley on House Passage of a Child Tax Credit Bill

The following press release was published by the United States Committee on Finance Ranking Member’s News on June 12, 2003. It is reproduced in full below.

The following comment is from Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Committee on Finance, on House passage of legislation on a child tax credit.

“As I’ve said all week, I support much of the substance of the House bill. I look forward to working with Chairman Thomas in conference on a bill that can pass the Senate and the House. I’d like to see some improvements, such as retaining the Senate’s uniform definition of a childprovision. According to Joint Tax and Treasury, this proposal would simplify the tax code formillions of families with children. If we don’t change the House bill, I don’t know if there areenough Senate votes to pass it, but the point of a conference is to come up with a product that bothchambers can pass."
