Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Committee on Finance, made the following comment today after his committee investigators interviewed two former executives of SFBC International Inc., a pharmaceutical research company that the committee is reviewing for allegations of unethical treatment of patients. Grassley’s investigators met separately in his office today with Lisa Krinsky,
who recently resigned as president and chairman, and Gerald Seifer, former director of legal affairs.
Grassley made the following comment on the meetings.
“My investigators interviewed Ms. Krinsky and Mr. Seifer, who appeared voluntarily today in response to my request. My staff informed me that they cooperated fully and that the interviews were productive. The findings of the report that the company’s lawyers provided to the committee,
including ‘inappropriate’ behavior, and allegations related to the ethical treatment of patients in clinical trials were discussed. The Committee will continue reviewing the company’s practices and activities as the SEC’s investigation continues."
