WASHINGTON - Marking the 18 month anniversary of the $2.6 trillion health law, U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, today said the partisan health care overhaul is a threat to the ailing American economy and called for its full repeal.
“A year-and-a-half later and the American people know first-hand that ObamaCare’s unprecedented expansion of federal power and one-size-fits-all mandates have failed," said Hatch. “What it has done is brought a $1.1 trillion tax hammer down on the American people, tied the hands of job-creators with burdensome regulations, and added more than $700 billion to our nation’s already bloated deficit. With such an economically destructive law, Congress should immediately act to fully repeal ObamaCare and then put the states back in charge to enact reforms that address their unique challenges."
Hatch has spearheaded efforts in Washington to repeal the $2.6 trillion partisan health law, introducing legislation to repeal both the individual (S. 19) and employer (S. 20) mandates. Hatch believes the repeal of the law should be considered as a means to reduce the deficit and create much-needed jobs.
