Baucus, Hatch Comment on Russia’s Progress in WTO Accession

The following press release was published by the United States Committee on Finance Ranking Member’s News on Nov. 14, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Ranking Member Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) commented today following the decision by the Working Party on the Accession of the Russian Federation to the World Trade Organization (WTO) to approve the terms of Russia’s accession. Their decision clears the last hurdle before WTO ministers can formally invite Russia into the WTO, which is expected to happen next month. From the Finance Committee leaders:

“Today's WTO decision on Russia's accession represents an important step in Russia's integration into the global trading system. We will be reviewing the final agreement and Russia's implementation to ensure the result is a high-standard agreement that will provide the kind of job-creating economic boost our ranchers, farmers, workers, businesses and service providers need."
