Hatch Statement on Chairman’s Mark of the Preserving America’s Transit and Highways Act

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on June 24, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, today issued the following statement regarding the Chairman’s Mark of the Preserving America’s Transit and Highways Act :

“In order to find a real solution to resolve financing for the Highway Trust Fund, the Committee must act in a bipartisan manner and forge compromise by including a sizeable amount of reductions in wasteful and low-priority spending. Unfortunately, even after weeks of negotiating, today’s Chairman’s Mark does not accomplish this goal. Moving forward, I will work in good faith with the Chairman and members of the Committee to create a balanced bill that can pass both chambers and be signed by the President."
