Wyden Applauds Senate Confirmation of Social Security Advisory Board Nominees

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on Sept. 9, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON -Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden, D-Ore., yesterday led the Senate to confirm three nominees to the Social Security Advisory Board (SSAB): Drs. Henry Aaron, Lanhee Chen and Alan Cohen. Henry Aaron passed with a vote of 54-43. Lanhee Chen and Alan Cohen passed by voice vote.

“I am pleased the Senate has acted to confirm all three of these strong and well-qualified nominees," Wyden said. “The Social Security Advisory Board provides critical input and perspective on the Social Security program, and it’s high time the board is restored to full strength."

The Finance Committee previously reported the nominees out of committee on June 19.
