WASHINGTON - Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued a statement following the nomination of Mary Wakefield to be deputy secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS):

“I’m pleased Ms. Wakefield is being recognized for the commendable work she has done to improve health care services for all Americans, particularly in rural and other underserved areas of the country," Wyden said. “Improving access and quality of rural health care is one of our most pressing challenges today, and few have taken a more proactive role to address it than Ms. Wakefield. I hope to see her confirmed as soon as possible.
