Wyden Statement on Nomination of Chiquita Brooks-LaSure to Lead CMS

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on Feb. 19, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued a statement after the Biden administration announced the nomination of Chiquita Brooks-LaSure to be the administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS):

“The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services is a key piece of the American health care system, overseeing the health coverage of 130 million Americans, and its leader must have a strong understanding of the health care challenges facing families and communities across the country," Wyden said. “Chiquita Brooks-LaSure has a proven record of success when it comes to expanding health coverage and making health care more affordable for families, and I look forward to quickly bringing her nomination to the Finance Committee. CMS needs a leader on the job as soon as possible to help turn the tide of the pandemic and improve health care for all Americans."
