Crapo on Budget-Busting Spending and Job-Killing Tax Hikes

The following press release was published by the United States Committee on Finance Ranking Member’s News on May 28, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) issued the following statement today regarding President Biden’s budget announcement:

“I continue to disagree with the Administration’s bids to pay for budget-busting spending with job-killing tax hikes. This colossal $6 trillion proposal includes tax increases that will inevitably hurt all Americans and businesses, not just a slim minority of individuals. The President’s proposals to hit Americans with higher taxes and strangle the economy with regulations and red tape is not a path to prosperity. Prior to the pandemic, pro-growth policies, including the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, helped to create one of the strongest economies in decades. At a time when the U.S. should be maximizing economic growth and providing an environment for job creation to reach pre-pandemic levels, the Administration is putting forth proposals that will do the opposite."
