WASHINGTON DC-Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means, Charles B. Rangel (D-NY), made the following statement today in response to developments regarding House Democratic health reform legislation that will pave the way for the House of Representatives to consider a comprehensive health care reform bill in September.

I am particularly pleased that today`s agreement solidifies the creation of a public health insurance option that will promote competition and ensure choice."
