Chairman Rangel on Senator Baucus’ Health Insurance Reform Proposal

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on Sept. 16, 2009. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles B. Rangel (D-NY) issued the following statement today on the proposal released by Senator Max Baucus, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee:

“I welcome the movement of the Senate Finance Committee. The addition of Senator Baucus` proposal to the discussion means that we can now build a health reform bill for the President to sign.

“Every day we are reminded how important health care is to every American family and business. This is why we must act now to restore peace of mind to those who are struggling to find affordable insurance and those who want to keep what they have but would benefit from improvements in quality of care and efforts to bend the skyrocketing growth of health care costs nationwide."
