GOP Tax Agenda: Doubling Down on the Bush Tax Cuts For the Wealthy

The Republican tax agenda - as outlined in their budget - would provide another $5 trillion tax cut on top of the Bush tax cuts, skewed heavily toward the very wealthiest Americans, as the below table from the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center makes clear. Nearly 37% of the benefit alone goes to millionaires. Half goes to people earning $500,000-plus. The same budget, meanwhile, calls for ending the Medicare guarantee and slashing a variety of other vital programs.
