Camp Statement on SGR Legislative Framework

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on July 9, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, DC - Today, Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) made the following comment on the release of legislative framework from the Energy and Commerce Committee to permanently fix the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula. For over two and a half years, Camp and Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) have closely collaborated to reform the current Medicare system.

“Providing a permanent solution to the broken SGR formula is vital to ensuring that seniors continue to have access to high-quality care. Chairman Upton’s draft legislative language is another important step to ensure that we secure stakeholder feedback and finally put an end to the uncertainty caused by this failed policy. I look forward to continuing to work with our friends at Energy and Commerce to make these long-sought solutions a reality."
