House Passes Bill to Repeal Obamacare

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on Feb. 3, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Today, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 596, legislation to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The bill also directs three House Committees, including the Ways and Means Committee, to develop patient-centered legislation to replace the law. Upon passage, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) issued the following statement.

“Instead of making health care more affordable and accessible, the president’s health care law is driving up costs and putting the government between patients and their care. Allowing this law to stand won’t fix our health care system; it will only make things worse. That’s why we’re working to advance patient-centered solutions to improve health care for all Americans and replace this unworkable law."
