Chairman Ryan Statement on TPP Negotiating Round in Maui

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on Aug. 14, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) released the following statement following the Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Hawaii:

“I’m very encouraged that our negotiators made considerable progress this week in Maui and accelerated the momentum of the discussions. But the negotiations have not yet reached an agreement that meets the high standards set in TPA. So I support Ambassador Froman’s decision to continue negotiations until we get the best deal for American workers, farmers, and families. I will continue to work with Ambassador Froman and his dedicated team to reach an agreement that Congress can support."
