“In recent years, Republican budgets in the House have included blindly ideological priorities, leading to harmful fiscal consequences. They have focused on slashing effective anti-poverty programs, ending Medicare, and starving other necessary programs. This approach has undermined our Committee's effort to find and act on common ground within our jurisdiction.
“Democrats will send our own letter today to the Budget Committee, asking them to take a different approach and craft a budget that builds on recent economic growth and makes room for bipartisan cooperation on some important problems facing our nation, problems we need to address - like tax reform and closing unfair loopholes, and growing inequality."
