Levin Statement on Proposed Medicare Physician Payment Rule

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on April 27, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI) today issued the following statement after the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a proposed rule to implement the Merit-Based Incentive Payments System (MIPS) - a system for Medicare physician payments that replaced the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula:

“This proposed rule is the culmination of years of efforts to reform our health care delivery system to base reimbursement on quality and value rather than the quantity of services. I look forward to continuing work on this as I review in-depth the proposed rule, and I hope we can continue this effort on a bipartisan basis."
