WASHINGTON, DC - Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI) today issued the following statement after the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a proposed rule to implement the Merit-Based Incentive Payments System (MIPS) - a system for Medicare physician payments that replaced the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula:
“This proposed rule is the culmination of years of efforts to reform our health care delivery system to base reimbursement on quality and value rather than the quantity of services. I look forward to continuing work on this as I review in-depth the proposed rule, and I hope we can continue this effort on a bipartisan basis."
