WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, House Ways and Means Committee Members joined Speaker Paul Ryan to send the American Manufacturing Competitiveness Act of 2016 to the President’s desk. This bipartisan, bicameral legislation overwhelmingly passed the House and Senate and reforms the way Congress considers manufacturing tariff cuts - in essence tax breaks - for certain imported products critical to the success of our businesses. This will help American manufacturers reduce costs, create jobs, and compete in the global market.
As Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) noted at the ceremony:
“This bill is about strengthening manufacturing jobs. It’s about making sure our U.S. manufacturers don’t pay extra costs or extra taxes. It’s about lowering the costs for American consumers. It’s really about growing the economy."
