Brady Announces Full Committee Hearing on “Moving America’s Families Forward”

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on May 18, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) today announced a full committee hearing entitled “Moving America’s Families Forward: Setting Priorities for Reducing Poverty and Expanding Opportunity" on Tuesday, May 24, at 10:00 AM in room 1100 of the Longworth House Office Building. At the hearing, Members will examine one of our nation’s most pressing concerns - helping low-income individuals and their families move out of poverty and up the economic ladder.

“For the first time in ten years, the full Ways and Means Committee is focusing on our nation’s welfare system because it will help more Americans earn their own success," said Chairman Brady. “Our current system is not working effectively enough to help those most in need. We have a responsibility to lead and help more Americans realize the American Dream. Next week’s important conversation reaffirms our commitment to reducing poverty, expanding opportunity, and moving families forward."
