WASHINGTON, DC - Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard Neal (D-MA) today announced that Lee Slater has been named Director of Outreach and Member Services for the committee.

“From serving here on Capitol Hill for the better part of a decade to serving our country overseas in the Army Reserves, Lee has proven that no matter the situation, he is a leader," said Ranking Member Neal. “That’s why I know he will continue to excel in this newly-created position with the Ways and Means Committee, leading coordination with the Democratic Caucus and outreach to the business and advocacy communities."

"Lee Slater exemplifies what leadership is about," said Rep. John B. Larson. "A combat veteran of Afghanistan & Iraq, Lee has worked his way up through my office, serving as legislative assistant, legislative director, and as my Chief of Staff for the last five years. His work ethic, demeanor and political acumen make him an outstanding choice for the Committee on Ways and Means. He will be a great asset to Mr. Neal, the Committee, and the membership on both sides of the aisle."

Slater worked for Ways and Means Committee Member Rep. John B. Larson (D-CT) since 2008, serving as his Chief of Staff for the past five years. In addition to his role as Chief of Staff, Slater has also served as Congressman Larson's Floor Director and as a Senior Advisor to the House Democratic Caucus. He previously worked for former Rep. Jason Altmire (D-PA), and served in the United States Army Reserves, including deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
