WASHINGTON, DC - Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard Neal (D-MA) today released the following statement on the departure of Chief International Trade Counsel Jason Kearns:
“Jason has been an outstanding leader and asset to the Ways and Means Committee for more than a decade, providing insightful analysis and knowledge on a range of trade issues for staff and Members alike. His expertise will be missed and all of us on the Committee wish him continued success in his career ahead."
Kearns joined the staff of the Ways and Means Committee in the fall of 2006 and has served as Chief International Trade Counsel for the Trade Subcommittee since 2012. During his tenure, Kearns has worked under the Committee Democratic leadership of former Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-NY), Rep. Sander Levin (D-MI), and Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA).
On June 29, 2017, the White House sent Kearns’ nomination to the United States Senate to be a Member of the United States International Trade Commission. His nomination currently awaits Senate action.
