WASHINGTON, DC-Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement regarding the departure of Ways and Means Committee chief trade counsel Katherine Tai, who has been confirmed by the Senate to serve as the United States Trade Representative:
“Katherine Tai has been a brilliant and valuable asset to the Ways and Means Committee during her time here. Her keen eye for enforcement and impressive record on negotiating tough deals has earned Katherine respect and admiration on both side of the aisle across Capitol Hill.
“Guided by her expertise and years of experience, she will skillfully represent our country’s interests with confidence and wisdom, ushering in a new era of trade. With Katherine at the helm, U.S. trade policy will be a means through which we can support American workers and businesses, while also leading on human rights and environmental protections.
