WASHINGTON, DC- House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA), Health Subcommittee Chairman Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ), and Worker and Family Support Subcommittee Chairman Danny K. Davis (D-IL), released the following statement applauding the Biden Administration’s decision to delay the effective date of a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regulation finalized by the Trump Administration, which would have jeopardized the health, safety, wellbeing, and economic security of millions of Americans protected by HHS regulations:
“After expressing our opposition to this effort by the former administration, we are relieved the Biden Administration is delaying this harmful move, and upholding necessary protections for beneficiaries and keeping consistent program rules. In the midst of a global public health crisis, HHS needs to be able to focus its resources on crushing the pandemic, and not on finalizing destructive rules. We hope the Biden Administration goes one step further and acts to prevent this regulation from ever causing harm to those who rely on the vital HHS programs and services, ranging from child care, to health insurance coverage, and foster care prevention services."
