WASHINGTON, DC-Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) made the following statement after Ranking Member Brady (R-TX) announced he would not seek reelection:
“Ranking Member Brady’s announcement to not seek re-election is a loss for both the Ways and Means Committee and Congress. Our working relationship has always been predicated on doing our best for this country we both love so dearly, and I respect his commitment to the people of Texas’s 8th Congressional District. From the Family First Prevention Services Act to the SECURE Act, Ranking Member Brady and I have been able to overcome ideological differences time and time again to partner on behalf of the American people. With the time he has left on the dais, I look forward to once again coming together and tackling the unfinished business of the Committee, starting with overhauling our nation’s infrastructure. He has left his mark on this great Committee, and I wish him and his family all the best in what’s to come."
