SPRINGFIELD, MA- Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement praising President Biden’s nomination of Shalanda Young to serve as Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB):
“As Acting Director of OMB, Ms. Young has already demonstrated the skill and acumen necessary to lead this vital function of the Executive Branch. I’m thrilled President Biden has made this historic nomination in time for her to steadily guide the implementation of the bipartisan infrastructure law and, in due time, the Build Back Better Act. In one of the toughest jobs on Capitol Hill, she worked across the aisle, avoiding many government shutdowns, and as OMB Director, she will be the partner the House needs to navigate the upcoming appropriations processes. I have the fullest confidence that her years of public service and deep commitment to workers and their families will continue to steer her as she helps lead our economic recovery from the pandemic and ensures we build back better."
