WASHINGTON, DC-Today, Ways and Means Committee Racial Equity Initiative Co-Chairs, Reps. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA), Steven Horsford (D-NV), and Terri Sewell (D-AL), released the following statement applauding the Administration for Children and Families’ (ACF) National Call to Action on racial equity:
“We are thrilled with ACF’s commitment to advancing equity through its work supporting children, families, and communities. Today’s Call to Action will surely re-energize stakeholders in the mission to ensure all Americans - regardless of race - can enjoy safe, healthy, economically secure lives. We look forward to learning more about ACF’s initiatives and are eager to review its upcoming Information Memorandum (IM), Equity in Action: Prioritizing and Advancing Racial Equity and Support for the Underserved Communities. From foster care, to workforce training, to child poverty reduction, ensuring federal policies are implemented in an equitable manner is essential to expanding opportunity and improving outcomes for marginalized people in our nation. The Ways and Means Committee remains invested in doing our part to make the United States a more just, equitable place, and we appreciate the Biden Administration’s ongoing partnership in these efforts."
