Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Foreign Minister of Kosovo Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield met today with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kosovo Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield expressed deep appreciation for Kosovo’s support on Afghanistan and Ukraine, including early and generous support to temporarily host Afghans and accept thousands of refugees from Ukraine.
The two officials discussed the potentially destabilizing impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on the Western Balkans. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield reiterated the United States’ strong support for the EU-facilitated Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and encouraged finding solutions for outstanding issues, implementing existing agreements, and making concrete progress toward a normalization of Serbia-Kosovo relations with the goal of mutual recognition.
