Manufacturing Extension Partnership to Host Growth Training Programs for Businesses in Appalachian Region

GAITHERSBURG, Md.-The West Virginia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WVMEP), in cooperation with the U.S. Commerce Department's MEP office, will offer training sessions in Charleston and Morgantown, W.Va., for local business owners and economic development partners throughout the Appalachian Region who are interested in learning more about 21st-century profit opportunities in several fields, including renewable energy and energy efficiency.

"Profit 101 Growth Training" teaches the best practices for transforming innovative ideas into new products. Instead of a classroom learning session, the training provides hands-on interactive simulation exercises.

In the training, participants will learn:

* how to sharpen their marketing messages to improve their selling effectiveness;

* how to collaborate with suppliers and innovators to decrease time to market; and

* how to improve their company's innovation abilities and attract new domestic and international customers.

Business owners and economic development partners need not be affiliated with MEP in order to attend. Attendance is open to all interested parties, but registration is required.
