The Bureau of Reclamation’s California Great-Basin Region announced today the selection of Cathy Wise as the Construction Engineer for the Willows Construction Office. Her office is responsible for managing the Region’s construction program, project managing all the Region’s major infrastructure projects, and is the cornerstone of all preconstruction, onsite construction management, and construction contract administration throughout southern Oregon, western Nevada, and central and Northern California.
“Cathy brings a wealth of experience to this position; she has been with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers since 2003, overseeing a multitude of complex projects to completion,” said Regional Director Ernest Conant. “We are looking forward to Cathy’s leadership and expertise in guiding our region through the development and construction of the many infrastructure projects facing the Region over the next decade.”
Most recently, Wise served as the Deputy Chief of the Mega Projects Center and Program Manager of the Department of Veterans Affairs Branch with the Corps’ Sacramento District for the last 5 years. During her tenure she also served 13 years in the Construction Division, including positions such as the Resident Engineer of the Joint Federal Project at Folsom Dam, and the Valley Resident Office where she coordinated flood risk reduction projects along the American and Sacramento rivers, the Marysville Ring Levee, and operation and maintenance of the District’s parks. Wise also oversaw military construction projects at the Presidio of Monterey and Camp Roberts, California National Guard, Army Reserve, and dredging operations.
Wise served 8 years of active-duty military in the Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps. She is still serving as a Captain in the Navy Reserves and is currently assigned as the Officer in Charge of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command’s Contingency Engineering Unit.
Wise holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Chico.
