Washington, DC - Congressman Howard L. Berman, Ranking Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement in support of the Obama Administration’s decision to recognize the Libyan Transitional National Council as the legitimate governing authority of Libya.
“The Obama Administration is right to recognize the Transitional National Council as the legitimate governing authority for Libya. I have met with the leadership of the TNC and followed their activities over the last several months, and I believe they are motivated and determined to create a unified, inclusive, and democratic Libya. The Libyan people deserve a government that protects their rights and to be free of the tyranny of Muammar Gaddafi. I encourage the international community to support the TNC and help them transition to a peaceful and prosperous future.".
