Engel Applauds U.S.-Mexico Transnational Financial Crimes Agreement

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on Oct. 25, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington D.C. - Ranking Member Eliot Engel, the senior Democratic Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, hailed the signing by U.S. and Mexican officials of an agreement to combat illicit transnational financial networks.

“The signing of this agreement is an important step in combating illicit cross-border financial flows. In the fight against trafficking of guns and drugs across the southern border, attacking the financial underpinnings of criminal organizations that profit from these activities must be a key part of the effort. This MOU also signals that our partners in Mexico remain committed to working in partnership with the U.S. to go after these cross-border criminal networks.".
