Washington, D.C. - Today, U. S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement on Iran supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s anti-West, anti-Israel speech delivered as Iran is involved in nuclear negotiations with the United States and other nations.

“The supreme leader has the final say in Iran’s affairs. His anti-Western broadside must be taken seriously and thoroughly condemned. His despicable words sure don’t build confidence. I remain deeply concerned that the Obama Administration is close to taking a bad deal with a bad regime."

Note: This week, Chairman Royce, along with Ranking Member Eliot Engel (D-NY), sent President Obama a bipartisan letter urging caution during the ongoing negotiations with Iran.
