Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued this statement following the killing of American journalist James Foley.

“I am deeply saddened and angered by ISIS’ barbaric killing of American journalist James Foley, who risked his life to bring the truth to the world. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. ISIS is a profound threat to humanity as it brutally targets the most vulnerable. We must get serious about confronting this force, including by aggressively arming those battling it. My thoughts and prayers are also with Steven Sotloff and his parents, who I know have been working tirelessly to secure the release of their captured son.".
