Washington, D.C. - Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) released the following statement after the House passed legislation requiring the administration to develop a strategy to secure observer status for Taiwan in INTERPOL.
“Taiwan is a strong friend and critical partner of the United States. Yet today it is needlessly at risk because it is excluded from INTERPOL. Regaining access to INTERPOL’s law enforcement infrastructure will ensure that Taiwan can quickly obtain, and share, the latest intelligence on criminals and global criminal activities. That helps everyone’s security.
“I want to thank Rep. Matt Salmon for his leadership on this bill, and I urge President Obama to sign it as soon as possible.".
