Washington, D.C. - House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) released the following statement after meeting with Bahraini Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed al Khalifa.
“Bahrain and the United States have long shared a commitment to security and stability in the Middle East. Host of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet, Bahrain is a critical partner. Today I was glad to welcome Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed al Khalifa to the Capitol for a good discussion about how we can build on this important relationship, and better counter threats from Iran and terrorist organizations. In our conversation, I stressed that respect for human rights is key to combating Iran’s attempts to incite violence and instability in Bahrain.".
