Washington D.C. - Today, House Foreign Affairs lead Republican Michael McCaul (R-TX) gave the following statement on the latest developments in Venezuela after the military’s announcement supporting illegitimate President Nicolas Maduro.
“I am closely following the events in Venezuela and the demonstration of courage by the people of Venezuela. I applaud the Trump Administration and the countries in the region that stand with them. This is a historic opportunity for democracy to prevail over a socialist dictatorship and I sincerely hope the military abandons the Maduro regime and stands with the people. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Foreign Affairs Committee and in the Senate to support interim President Guaidó and a peaceful democratic transition in Venezuela.".
