Engel Statement on the Administration Ignoring Congress on Khashoggi Murder

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on Feb. 8, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington-Representative Eliot L. Engel, Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today made the following statement on the Administration’s failure to meet the deadline to report to Congress on the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

“Through an anonymous statement, the Administration is again making its disdain for Congress’s constitutional authority abundantly clear. With or without the Administration’s assistance, the Foreign Affairs Committee will push for real accountability for the brutal murder of Jamal Khashoggi. And the Administration’s refusal to deal with this issue and keep Congress informed underscores the need to get to the bottom of what is motivating the Trump Foreign Policy.".
