Congressman Michael T. McCaul (R-TX), Republican Leader of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement in response to reports of attacks on the Ethiopian National Defense Force bases by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, and deployment of Ethiopian military forces to the Tigray region.
“I am deeply concerned about the fighting in Tigray and am closely monitoring the developments there. All parties must commit to an immediate ceasefire and pursue a national dialogue to de-escalate tensions. Further violence only threatens to destabilize Ethiopia and the broader region.".
