The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on April 2, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Representatives Gregory W. Meeks, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Bill Keating, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber, issued the following statement commemorating the twenty-third anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

“Today we celebrate twenty-three years since the signing of the Good Friday Agreement. On this important anniversary, we reiterate our support for these historic documents, which replaced the violence and terror on the island with peace and cooperation. The Good Friday Agreement is the bedrock on which the Northern Ireland peace process stands, and it is only through continued support for it, from all sides, that peace will continue to prevail. Let us celebrate the progress made possible by the Good Friday Agreement and recommit ourselves to open dialogue and continued efforts to maintain the hard-earned peace on the island of Ireland.".
