Meeks, McCaul, Sires, Green Issue Statement Condemning Assassination Attempt Against Colombia’s President Duque

Washington, DC - Representatives Gregory W. Meeks and Michael McCaul, Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, along with Albio Sires and Mark Green, Chairman and Ranking Member of the Western Hemisphere, Civilian Security, Migration and International Economic Policy Subcommittee, issued the following joint statement in response to yesterday’s assassination attempt on members of Colombia’s government.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the assassination attempt against the President of Colombia, his Ministers of Defense and Interior, and the Governor of Norte de Santander. Colombia is a vital US ally and we stand in solidarity with the Colombian government. Yesterday’s cowardly attack must be investigated fully. We will do all we can to help President Duque’s government bring the perpetrators to justice.".
