Sen. Collins Comments on Office of Federal Procurement Policy Nominee

The following press release was published by the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on Nov. 4, 2003. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Senate Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Susan Collins (R-ME) today issued the following statement on the President’s intent to nominate David Safavian, who currently serves as chief of staff at the General Services Administration, as head of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy in the Office of Management and Budget. The nomination would be referred to her committee, which has jurisdiction over that office and federal contracting issues. “The Office of Federal Procurement Policy helps set policy for how the federal government spends billions of dollars on federal contracts each year. The Committee looks forward to holding Mr. Safavian’s nomination hearing, where we expect to explore many issues involving the Administration's procurement policies," said Senator Collins.
