COMMITTEE APPROVES MICHAEL JACKSON TO BE DHS DEPUTY SECRETARY

Washington, DC - The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee today gave unanimous approval of the nomination of Michael Jackson to be the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Jackson’s nomination must now be voted on by the Senate. The Committee vote was taken today at the Capitol. It was a unanimous voice vote to report Jackson’s nomination to the full Senate. Twelve members were present. The members present were the following: Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) Senator George Voinovich (R-OH) Senator Daniel Akaka (D-HI) Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN) Senator Thomas Carper (D-DE) Senator Lincoln Chafee (R-RI) Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR) Senator Robert Bennett (R-UT) Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM) Senator John Warner (R-VA)
