SENATORS SEEK FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY FROM GSA

The following press release was published by the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on May 14, 2012. It is reproduced in full below.

Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., and Ranking Member Susan Collins, R-Maine, wrote to GSA’s inspector general and its acting administrator seeking information regarding the agency’s department-wide financial management, its control over its 10 regions, its spending on conferences, and its contracting policies.

The letters, which can be read here and here, come after GSA’s Inspector General discovered that thewestern region spent $800,000 on a conference in Las Vegas. Shortly thereafter the Committee launched an inquiry.
