WASHINGTON - Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., and Ranking Member Susan Collins, R-Maine, have formally asked Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta for documents related to the security of the U.S. mission in Benghazi before the Sept. 11, 2012, attack that killed four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
The requests for documents and briefings were the first the Committee has made as part of its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi and the cooperation and information sharing among relevant federal agencies before and after the attack.
