Chairman Johnson Reacts to Latest Secret Service Incident

The following press release was published by the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on March 12, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington -Senator Ron Johnson, (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, made these comments about allegations that two senior Secret Service agents were involved in a car crash into White House security barricades after drinking at a party:

“These embarrassing incidents have a profoundly negative effect on the reputation and motivation of thousands of hard-working Secret Service members who have committed their careers to protecting the president. A few bad apples are forcing the Secret Service to account for itself in the media and distracting it from a mission in which it must not fail. This is not acceptable. Current leadership understands this and, I hope, is on the road to restoring the agency’s credibility."
