Johnson Comments on Resignation of Department of Commerce IG

The following press release was published by the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on June 4, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington - Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) made these comments Thursday after learning of the resignation of Department of Commerce Inspector General Todd J. Zinser:

“In testimony Wednesday, our committee heard allegations of misconduct against Inspector General Zinser. Last night, Mr. Zinser announced his retirement. I respect his decision. In light of testimony yesterday about the president’s failure to fill critical IG positions in several federal agencies, I call on the president to promptly nominate a permanent replacement as inspector general at the Department of Commerce and to fill the other four presidentially appointed inspector general vacancies."
